What's new for May

Renault’s Captur has made a strong start to 2022, steadily gaining on its rivals in the Light SUV category. A cross between an urban hatch and a sporty SUV, the range now includes a flagship R.S. Line variant that leans into Renault’s sporting heritage. All models come standard with keyless entry, LED daytime running lights and road sign recognition.

Meanwhile, Hyundai’s IONIQ 5 recently took out a Good Design Award for its electric mid-size crossover SUV. The vehicle boasts a ‘Universal Island’ moveable centre console, power sliding seats, and the use of eco-friendly materials throughout the cabin

Have you considered?

Every month, we showcase a selection of popular cars to help with your vehicle research.

Please note that due to Covid-19, the auto industry is constrained by global supply issues. Depending on your chosen car, it’s likely to be a factory order and may not be available for some time.

We’re expecting these conditions to continue for the foreseeable future; that’s why we’re suggesting getting your order in sooner rather than later. There’s no deposit to pay to reserve your place in the queue.

To demonstrate how cost-effective a new car could be by accessing thousands in tax savings with an SG Fleet novated lease, we’ve included an indicative cost per week. Vehicle pricing is based on dealer quotes achieved by SG Fleet in the last 45 days and actual pricing may change at the time a lease quotation is provided.^

Spotlight on: Mazda CX-5

So far this year, one in five Medium SUVs (under $60K category) sold in Australia is a Mazda CX-5.1

That looks set to continue with the recently-launched second-gen CX-5 model.

When it debuted 10 years ago, the CX-5 was the first in its class to contain now-standard safety features such as blind-spot monitoring and lane-departure warning. In the latest evolution, all variants come standard with Mazda’s Smart City Brake Support with night-time pedestrian detection.

The entry-level Maxx boasts an upsized infotainment display with Apple CarPlay. An all-new Touring Active AWD variant adds a mid-range diesel option.

Mazda expects the race between the GT SP variant and the range-topping Akera to be close run. Mutual features include 19-inch alloy wheels, hands-free power tailgate and 10-speaker Bose sound system. Akera’s additional luxuries include a heated steering wheel, Nappa leather seats with heating through to the second row, woodgrain inserts and ambient interior lighting.
